For our 6th Friday of BV 2012, we focused on
strength and got to learn a bit about our community’s city hall and justice system.
Following lunch, the kids began their Friday worship by
revisiting music that was familiar to those who attended the Buena Vista
Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School this year. We sang and did the movements
to the “Ten Commandment Boogie” and also sang some of the music that we’ve been
listening to most Fridays since the beginning of BV 2012.
Then, the children who came to crafts made a mini-weight
(this one won’t build muscle fast anytime soon, though…) as a reminder to us to
have strength. These were made from pencils, black and silver paint, duct tape, and, surprisingly, the material that people use to make and stuff quilts! The kids then attached to their pencils the Bible verse from Philippians 4:13, which says "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Some goofing around after crafts were through.. :)
After their time in both Bible study and crafts, we all ventured to Buena Vista's city hall. There, the kids met with a judge who explained the inner-workings of the court system. Also, we learned about deeds and property in Buena Vista: we stood in one room that contains information on all the properties within our city! The kids additionally listened to the registrar talk about voting and registering to vote. They even got to walk through a metal detector, which they seemed to think was pretty cool. : )

After our tour of city hall, we finished our day by watching Courageous back at BVBC.
One of the scenes that made all the kids laugh! They loved this movie!
